Air Curtain Installation Height Guide
The single most common reason an air curtain 'doesn't work' is that it has been mounted too high. Every unit's air stream loses velocity as it travels down; if the stream has decayed to almost nothing by the time it reaches the floor, hot air simply walks in underneath. This guide gives the practical rules for mounting height, angle and sensor placement.
Rated mounting height
Nanyoo FM-series units list a recommended mounting height of 2.3–3.0 m (measured from floor to the unit's outlet). At the low end the seal is strongest; at 3 m it is adequate for a typical shop; above 3 m a higher-velocity commercial unit is needed. Never mount the unit above the door head with a gap — the outlet should sit within 10–15 cm of the top of the opening.
Deflector angle
Angle the outlet vanes 10–20° outward (towards the outside) so the air stream meets incoming hot air and drives it back. Pointing straight down works only in still conditions; pointing inward pulls hot air in. For wind-exposed doors use the larger angle and the higher speed setting.
Sensor and control
Mount the door sensor on the frame so it triggers reliably as the door starts to open, and set any run-on delay so the unit continues for a few seconds after the door closes. Remote versions can be run continuously during peak trading hours.
Wiring and fixing
- Fused spur, 220–240 V, 50 Hz; check the input power on the product page (e.g. 100 W for the 0.9 m unit).
- Fix to a solid lintel or wall with the supplied brackets; hollow partitions need through-bolts or a timber plate.
- Keep 5 cm clearance above the unit for air intake.
- Ensure the unit is level — a tilted unit leaves one side of the door unprotected.
Checklist before sign-off
Door width ≤ unit width; height within 2.3–3 m; deflector angled outward; sensor triggering; intake clear; unit level. If in doubt, send photos to BOTANVÈ on WhatsApp before drilling.
Angling the air discharge
Most Nanyoo cross-flow air curtains have adjustable discharge louvres. For maximum barrier effectiveness, angle the discharge 15–20 degrees towards the outside of the door — this creates a slight positive pressure inside, pushing warm or dusty air back. Angling too far inward reduces the barrier and causes the air to blow on people entering the space. The sensor models adjust discharge speed automatically when the door opens; the sensor + remote models allow manual speed selection between visits.
Double doors and wide openings
For openings wider than 2.0 m, use two units side by side. Mount them end-to-end with no gap, and set both to the same speed. For a 3.0 m wide entrance, two 1.5 m units or one 1.5 m plus one 2.0 m are the typical configurations. For very wide industrial entrances (above 4.0 m), contact us — high-velocity commercial air curtains with a separate motor drive may be more appropriate than cross-flow units.
