Best 1.5 Ton Split AC in the UAE: Models and Prices Compared

A 1.5-ton split AC delivers 18,000 BTU/h of nominal cooling and is the right size for rooms of about 14–20 m² in UAE conditions. This guide lists every 1.5-ton model in the BOTANVÈ catalogue with its current price, then explains how to choose between premium, mid-range and value brands.

Installation considerations for 1.5-ton units

A 1.5-ton split AC uses a 1/4" liquid line and 1/2" suction line in most installations. The indoor unit is typically mounted high on a wall (at least 2.0 m from the floor) with the outdoor unit on the balcony, roof or side wall. Copper pipe runs should be kept as short as practical — most manufacturers allow up to 15–20 m before specifying an additional refrigerant charge per metre.

For rooms with a 3.0 m or higher ceiling, or for west-facing rooms with large glass areas, consider sizing up to 2.0 ton. The BTU calculator accounts for ceiling height and sun exposure and will tell you if a 1.5-ton unit is sufficient for your specific room.

Running cost of a 1.5-ton AC in the UAE

A 1.5-ton inverter split AC with a typical EER of 3.0–3.5 draws approximately 1.2–1.5 kW at full load. In UAE summer conditions, running 10–12 hours per day at moderate part-load, expect approximately 15–18 kWh per day. At DEWA/SEWA tariffs for residential use, this is roughly AED 4–6 per day during peak summer months. Inverter compressors modulate speed and typically use 30–50% less electricity than fixed-speed units over a day of normal use.

How to choose

Premium (Mitsubishi Electric, O General): quieter indoor units, better capacity retention at 45 °C+, longer expected life; choose for bedrooms you will keep for years and for sun-facing rooms. Mid-range (Carrier): established brand, straightforward servicing. Value (Midea, Super General, Aftron, Geo General, Nikai): lowest purchase price, good for rental apartments, staff accommodation and multi-unit projects where the budget per room is fixed.

Whatever the brand, confirm the room really needs 1.5 ton with the BTU calculator; see 1.5 ton vs 2 ton for the boundary cases. Check the spec table for refrigerant type and power input, and budget for copper (pipe size helper), a bracket and installation.

What is included in the price

Catalogue prices cover the indoor and outdoor unit set as described on the product page. Copper piping, insulation, cable, outdoor bracket, drain pipe and installation labour are extra. For five or more units, request a bulk quotation.
